The hardest part of a first dental visit is almost always the not knowing. So here is exactly what happens when you walk through our door, start to finish, with no surprises waiting for you.

A real conversation first

Before anyone reclines a chair, you sit up in your own clothes and tell us the story: what your smile has been through, what worries you, and what you want from it. We listen, and we do not rush this part, because it quietly shapes everything that follows.

There is no judgment about time away, ever. Whether it has been six months or sixteen years, the visit starts the same gentle way.

A gentle, unhurried exam

We take digital x-rays, which use a fraction of the radiation of the old film kind, and put them on the screen for you. Then the dentist checks every tooth, every old filling, your bite, and your gums, and does a quick oral-cancer screening that takes under a minute.

You see what we see, in plain words, as we go. Nothing about your own mouth stays a mystery.

Your x-rays go straight up on the screen, so you see exactly what we see, in plain words.

A cleaning, if it is the right day

For most healthy mouths we clean the same day, so you leave feeling fresh. If your gums need a different kind of attention first, we tell you why and plan it properly rather than rushing something that deserves care.

If something has kept you from booking, you are not alone. Answer three quick questions and we will meet you where you are.

The plan you leave with

You go home knowing what is healthy, what needs attention, what can safely wait, and exactly what anything costs. No pressure, no surprise invoice, and no care recommended that you do not actually need.

If a follow-up makes sense, we book it before you leave, so it never quietly slips off the calendar.

You should never have to take our word for what is happening in your own mouth.

Frequently asked questions

Plan on about an hour. That covers the conversation, digital x-rays, a gentle exam, and, for most healthy mouths, a cleaning the same day. We never rush you out the door.
Just a list of any medications you take, plus your insurance or membership details if you have them. If you have older x-rays from another office we are glad to have them, but it is never a problem if you do not.
Then you are exactly who this visit is for. There is no lecture and no judgment about time away, whether it has been six months or sixteen years. We simply start where you are.
Usually nothing beyond a cleaning. You leave with a clear plan of what is healthy, what needs attention, and what it costs, and we book any follow-up before you go.
