Tell, show, do
The team here works the way good children's care always has, with a rhythm called tell-show-do. Theo tells a child what each step will be, in kid language, shows them the little water sprayer on a fingernail first, and only then does anything happen in their mouth. Surprise is most of what frightens a child, so we take the surprise away.
The first cavity is never really about the tooth. It is about whether a kid decides, at eight, that the dentist is a scary place. Handled gently, it stays a small memory instead of becoming a lifelong flinch, and that is worth more than any filling.

A warm hello, chair optional
We meet your child at eye level, in their own clothes, with no instruments in sight. Some little ones sit on a parent's lap for the whole first visit, and that is completely fine.
We tell them what happens
Everything gets a friendly name and a plain explanation in kid language, before it happens. No hidden steps, no sudden noises they were not warned about.
We show it first
The little water sprayer gets tried on a fingernail. The tiny mirror counts their teeth. They meet each tool as a friend before it ever goes near their mouth.
Then we do, slowly
Only once they are ready do we begin, gently and with lots of praise. If they need a pause, we pause. They leave a little braver than they arrived.
Most of a child's cavities start in the grooves of the back teeth.
